What happens at GrEAT Social?
The activities in each GrEAT Social session are based around a theme, including anything from Hollywood and wacky science, to aboriginal crafts and Harry Potter! At our over-18 sessions we aim to encourage independence, with Session Coaches able to provide support where needed.
The session begins with some relaxed colouring and puzzle activities while the coordinator greets members and and collects their £6 contributions. The session leader then kicks off the activities which can include a range of arts and crafts, cooking, music or active games, either as a large group or in smaller teams.
Halfway through the sessions we will stop for a quick snack break, before continuing on with the fun!
What are the benefits?
GrEAT Social provides a comfortable, inclusive environment for adults with special needs and disabilities to meet new people, get creative, socialise with friends, and take part in activities.
They gain support from and interaction with our enthusiastic team of local volunteers, building confidence, encouraging independence, improving communication skills and developing meaningful relationships.
