Visit GLAM with Your Buddy! Explore Oxford's Gardens, Libraries, and Museums
Pop quiz! How many libraries and gardens are there in Oxford?
Well, if your answer is 4 museums and 2 gardens, you are absolutely right! Last Friday 12th of March, GLAM (Gardens, Libraries, and Museums) in Oxford shared with our community buddies the exciting things GLAM has to offer. Currently, the two gardens, Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum are open to visitors, bring your buddies along! Do remember to book a time slot on their website and check their opening times.
(Harcourt Arboretum is not shown in the map above because it’s a 15-minute drive from the city centre)
GLAM is also excited to welcome buddies to visit their museums and libraries once they reopen. You can visit (numbers based on the map above):
Museum of Natural History
Pitt Rivers Museum
Ashmolean Museum
Bodleian Libraries - Weston Libraries
Museum of the History of Science
Bodleian Libraries - Old Library
Improving accessibility is one of GLAM’s main focuses and they are also looking into having museum volunteers accompany and assist buddies who intend to visit the museums. If you’d be interest in a volunteer to support an upcoming visit, email buddies@keenoxford.org who can get this sorted for you.
Detailed information about accessibility can be found here:
We’d love to hear your thoughts on how things could be even more accessible! Long time buddies, brand new buddies, just thinking about it buddies, your thoughts are all welcome!
